At the tail end of 2021, Popeye (Farside) uprooted his entire life to move across the country to the city of Scranton, PA, where he would eventually come to meet the rest of his new band, Calling Hours: guitarists Thomas McGrath (The Commercials) and Tony Bavaria (The Commercials), bassist Garrett Rothman (Don't Sleep), and drummer Jim Bedorf (Don't Sleep). For Brian McTernan, a celebrated producer with a nearly 30-year history of shaping some of the biggest hardcore records of all time - including albums for Hot Water Music, Turnstile, Circa Survive, And Thrice - advancing Calling Hours from the idea stage to the recording stage was personal. The outcome of that collaboration is "Say Less," a seven-song record for Revelation Records that revisits the band members' melodic, post-punk sensibilities while working in a decidedly contemporary direction.

Ease up on the feelings, the dealings, alright.
Ease up on the back end, the quick mend, alright.
Calm down with the statements, the payments, alright.
Calm down with the timing, the pining, alright.
Don’t ignore the consequences.
Suck it up and mend those fences.
Take these words, please.
Give me some memories.
Take these words, please.
And do something that’ll make you bleed.
Pull back on the throttle, the bottles, alright.
Pull back from your worst friends, the dead ends, alright.
Back off from the voices, the noises, alright.
Back off from the puppet show, it’s no Pass and Stow to cast.
Don’t ignore the consequences.
Suck it up and mend those fences.
Take these words, please.
Give me some memories.
Take these words, please.
And do something that’ll make you bleed.
I keep piling on to my armor, but I’m no charmer.
And I know I’ll run out of defenses.
Take these words, please.
Give me some memories.
Take these words, please.
And do something that’ll make you bleed.
This band. Hands down my favorite Discord band. They’ve had a powerful affect on my musical growth when I was young. And they’ve stayed there locked up in good nostalgia. Timeless. So I was worried to know they were doing anything new. PLEASE NO! I though to myself. Don’t let the new stuff suck and poison it! Well… Let’s say I’m thankful. A new chapter is born. Solid. guy_lane
